please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

A very under rated pub this one. yes the back sports bar is exactly what you would expect, but the front bar is very impressive. Cosy great choice of Real ales at least 5 when I was last in( ''twixt Xmas-New Year) mainly from the Marston's portfolio but very good all the same.

A great pub when I was at Uni, although one you'd tend to have a few starters in during the day, rather than ending up at for the night. The sports bar at the back had several pool tables, as well as an 'L' shaped table for a time. The beers were fairly standard, with nothing to write home about, but all in all a good boozer.

I hope ladnewton and mineisalandlord manage to visit again sometime now the refurb is completed. This is easily one of the best pubs in the Hull area for quality of real ale, usually about 5 choices. It also still maintains that useful separate rooms for different folks policy which many pubs have abandoned in favour of the 'let's knock through and make a massive room, fill it with trendy types and alienate our original clientele' policy! Front room is very nice and fairly quiet, back room is the place to be for loud music, pool tables etc. I haven't tried it but I'm told the food in here is excellent too.

Very unimpressed by this pub.

Visited this pub on Good Beer Guide recommendation, on Fri 25/01/08. There is currently only one ale available, namely Tetley's bitter. Food is served which is quite good value for money. First time visitors should note that the pub is undergoing extensive refurbishment and only the wing of the building by the car park is open for public use. The staff are businesslike but friendly and local drinkers - of all ages - seem a friendly bunch. Worth another go when the refurb is complete as they intend to reinstate their range of five ales.
