I vistied the Quayside on the last day of the premiership football season as it appears less and less pubs are paying for Sky, so here was another but it at least they had some eastern european beem back and you don't always need the sound up. Beer was ok, nothing to rush back for. It was later when noticing a door by the bar with a 'Johnny Wilko' poster hanging that this was actually the disabled toilet! You would not have known this with an ice cream freezer close by to ensure no wheelchair users could fully open the door. The room seemed like the owners own cloakroom and for the use of the many kids in the pub with there families. Are you really allowed to cover over disbaled toilet signs with posters? Next stop to the bar, would have of got served but the barmaid clearly knew someone else so served them first!! err not rushing back! WTFC - 14 May 2012 22:22
Absolutely cracking pub, I went here alot in the summer. Nice food, changing ales and a few hot barmaids. Will be a regular here as soon as I hit Whitstable again in the summer. ceee73 - 20 Dec 2011 16:54
on a rare day off for both of us we set off for a visit to our own very local tourist trap,I went on about 15 mins ahead, entered the pub just after the entry of a group from a visiting bowling club(blazers, badges etc, unlike myself, should have been no confusion).I now sat at the bar quietly since they were busy dealing with the bowlers, some ten minutes later during which time the member of staff who had been painting outside came in to help out but niether he nor the original member of staff ever made any effort to acknowledge my prescence or even make eye contact and then proceeded to serve three people who came in after myself.at this point I neatly folded the note I had been hopefully grasping in my hand pocketed it and walked out.I will not be going back despite only living five mins away thenelson99 - 28 Jul 2011 11:09
My Hubby and I had a trip out to Whitstable yesterday – I wish one of us had read the reviews (with the exception of the one below, which must be written by either a complete lunatic or, more likely, an employee) before we came here. According to Hubby, the beer was foul (and tasted like cheesy vinegar), my wine was ok (but the glass appeared to have some sort of lip gloss on it). So we left rather hastily, but did see a dog (we think it was the owners) cock it’s leg on a small bar stool – which explained the rancid stench in the main bar. We didn’t dare visit the ‘facilities’ so can’t pass comment on them. However, the pigeon or bird excrement (mentioned in a previous posting) was still in evidence on two of the ledges. Hubby has, today, reported it to the local environmental health department. 1 out of 10 (simply for being there). PissFlap - 19 May 2011 14:40
On a recent trip to Whitstable with my 2 children, i went into the Quayside for Dinner, The food was lovely, choice of food was fantastic, the pub was very accommodating to us all, The decor is very nice , the whole pub was very clean and the staff extremely friendly especially with my children. The toilets were spotless, obviously been cleaned on a regular basis, i find it extremely hard to believe that this public house could possible the same one that someone above mentioned as having birds excretment inside. The Pub had a variety of people in there, young, old, couples and singles, families and all seemed to be enjoying themselves if they was eating or drinking or both, i would definately recommend this public house to anyone who visits Whitstable, i will be visiting again on my next trip traceyp - 18 Jan 2011 18:22
