| The British Oak is probably not a pub that I would go just for a drink in, however it does amazing food. The portions are huge and well worth the money. Seriously, don't eat for a week before - 2 weeks if you're going for the pork shnitzel! The staff are really friendly. When it gets busy then it does take a little while to get served. | The chef is a genius! The food at this pub is undoubtedly the best pub grub in Wakefield. Great menu and you can tell it's proper home-cooked grub. Shame about the miserable landlady. I have to say that this pub's popularity is down to the food and not the attitude of the female owner - some people don't have the manners they're born with. But, my fellow diners and drinkers, don't let that put you off. Great pub, nice atmosphere, fantastic food. Ok, it's a drive away but it's well worth it. ShakeyWakeyDrinker - 5 May 2009 22:59 |
