Great Rock 'n' Roll art bar. Great food including the best Sunday lunch in Clifton. Now under new management. The hottest live bands in Bristol. Cutting edge artwork on the walls. Wi-fi access. Rock 'n' roll bingo. Mad monster movies. Great selection of beers, wines and spirits. Available for private parties.

I've been in touch with BITE about the fact that there seem to be two entries for this pub. I suggested this one be removed as there are no reviews, however after checking with the pub, BITE inform me that the pub is now "The Grapes" and not "The Grapes Tavern" and so this is the correct one to use. The other one has been marked as closed. Slightly confusing, it's a shame the other one couldn't have had it's name changed. But then if it's been done up (again), maybe we should start afresh. Many thanks to BITE for a very swift response, about 20 minutes!

This has recently been done up and now looks something like a cross between a bar and an art gallery. Definitely not your traditional pub look. It’s got a rather bohemian atmosphere with wooden flooring, red painted walls, lots of wooden benches and a large mural on one wall, plus an interesting skeleton hanging from the ceiling. There was a plasma on one wall showing an rather odd black and white film with a giant turtle.

Much of the art is for sale, but with some of the paintings priced at £2,000 I don’t imagine they sell too many of them, even in Clifton. It’s not exactly a spur of the moment purchase you could buy with the change from your round.

That said though, the staff seemed pleasant enough, and it looks as though they put on a good choice of live music. The only beers were Wadworth’s, with their Bishop’s Tipple, 6X and Henry’s IPA. The cider was Stowford Press.
