Just re-opened after refurb and managed by the excellent Giles Evans, (small but perfectly formed!), outstanding views and good service. Honeybadger - 26 Apr 2012 14:47
Excellent pub. Good selection of well kept ales, great views, very friendly and welcoming owner and staff. Food is reasonably priced, good portions and well prepared. Open mic night was a bit cliquey, but I guess they're not used to newbies. zeanard - 8 Sep 2009 19:11
Brilliant pub - ales included Stanway, Goffs Jouster and Ringwood Fortyniner when I visited yesterday. Has a very relaxed feel to it and both staff and locals are friendly. Beer was in good order and the food was good and reasonably priced for the area. Watch out for the hyperactive dog - Cassie, who patrols the pub indoors and outdoors. She is no trouble at all and fun to watch doing her rounds. mikey64 - 25 Feb 2009 10:01
Cavernous old place with worn stone floors and old panelling. The main part of the pub would count as ‘unspoilt’, though even with the log fires it’s not the cosiest of places. Geared for dining, there is a large conservatory at the back with nice views, plus a garden, where you can watch steam trains go by. Didn’t try the food, menu look good enough though not a lot of veggie choice. The beers are the local Goff’s Jouster and Stanway Bitter, plus three guests, well kept when we visited, with an enthusiastic landlord. The pub has an unusual feature - a tennis court which you can book, preferably before drinking. krislee - 6 Nov 2008 10:58
A lovely place. I only found by chance but had a lovely meal wash down with a couple of pints of Goffs Jester. 9/10 bigronnie - 24 Jun 2008 08:40
