Scary... food shockingly bad!!!! Beer garden is not good for children and in need of a lot of work. AVOID!!!!! sobee - 10 Oct 2011 21:45
Horrible - now doing alot of late night raves with heavy bass banging out. Has the potential to be good but disappointing. daisyg94 - 18 Apr 2011 13:13
Aggh what the fingers has happened? Now I wasn't a fan of the make over or even worse the change of name. But the decking and picnic table area now looks very sad. A cavernous pub, with about seven people in. And only me drinking the less than average ale. One pub where the formlaic makeover failed. Maybe they weren't quite ready for this in SE6 BRING BACK THE RUTLAND ARMS baggydave - 4 Jul 2010 22:30
The perry hill has changed management, and you can tell the difference already, the staff are friendly, and from what they say, it is going to be family friendly with good reasonably priced food food and good ales. I can see myself spending a lot of time in in their massive beer garden over summer. timbo2010 - 29 Mar 2010 23:08
I went into the Perry Hill last week for a couple of drinks. I had been before and found it to be welcoming and having a decent selection of beers. Sadly last week it was very disappointing. the choice was pretty uninspiring - Pride and Bombadier - and the Pride was poor. I took it back and said it wasn't very good hoping I'd be offered a Bombadier instead but the barman said "I don't drink bitter so I wouldn't know". Failing to realise that I didn't really care what his preferred tipple was...I just wanted a nice beer. I ended up having an Amstel which says it all. The dining area was very quiet. The food in there is very good, or at least it was six months ago. There were a group in that were quite drunk and the language was a bit disappointing (you're good at swearing lads even though the vocabulary is very limited, now lets try it a bit quieter....) and the management did nothing to keep them calm. Perhaps this was linked to the dining area being virtually empty. The place is up for sale but it was still disappointing. Its a fine looking pub and there isn't much in the area but the Honor Oak and the Blythe are better. lochinvar - 11 Mar 2010 14:48
