Went here for Sunday lunch on the 30th October 2011. I prefer their sister pub, The Bull and Last. Things here are just a bit cramped, the food is average and the beer selection was restricted. 427scr - 11 Nov 2011 14:11
I've lived in Putney for 3 years and the PoW should be our local as its the closest pub to us. We often land up there out of convenience and lack of inspiration but each time I go I kick myself for being stupid. This joint is expensive, the staff are ALWAYS RUDE, snarky, lazy and look to be sucking lemons. Over the years there have been a couple of bartenders that were friendly and pleasant but they last only a very short time and often speak of appauling management (and worse). It seems management encourage bitter staff. I went last night as our intended pub was opening late and I swear it will be the last time I ever visit this horrible place. I hate it with a passion. We had one drink (a beer and a cider £8.40) served by a seriously rude and uninterested bar waitress into warm glasses - they've dropped fosters so you can only get 1664 and Red Stripe draft, half the time something is out and they cant be stuffed changing the keg. We left as soon as possible and I will never look back. Go to the Fox (5 pounds for a round), the Coat and Badge or the Jolly Gardener. Anywhere but here. sasskennedy - 26 May 2011 15:12
Pleasant enough place, although it does ge a bit busy and congested in the early evenings when I tend to frequent. The bar is rather small, and usually understaffed, with a chap trying to show off his bottle spinning skills. And, probably because of the rather high prices, so many people seem to pay by card which slows things down even more. The restaurant quality food is very good (we had my department Christmas meal here - 25 of us), and better than much in Putney. ASR sw19andrew - 4 Feb 2011 23:31
I like this pub. friendly bar staff, good food (not cheap to be fair, but tasty - and home made). Friendly. Like it. Used to be a bit of a dive before the refurb (but funny because they used to stick a big inflatable snowman behind the bar at Christmas). Worth a visit. Rasputin0 - 20 Aug 2010 16:26
This used to be one of our favorite pubs, food used to be good and staff used to care about the customers, now it appears quite the opposite. The food takes a long time to arrive, costs a lot and when once the whole place was packed, these days there's nothing but a few tables occupied in the restaurant. It seems the owners have taken their eye off the ball and it doesn't take long for that to have an impact. justtor - 31 May 2010 18:43
