| Wow. What a transformation. The Royal closed 18 months ago having been a poor boozer for years suffering from a lack of attention and general neglect. Now it has reopened (on 14th December 2009) as a really top notch pub with great beer, great food, open fires and a good atmosphere. Caters well for its clientele (typical Charlton Kings) and is run by the same husband and wife team who carried out a similar transformation at the Exmouth Arms on the Bath Road in Cheltenham.
