I ate here for the first time recently. The food was well cooked and presented. Good honest cooking with nothing pretentious about it. All washed down by a pint of Hook Norton Hooky bitter. jbsjazzer - 9 Dec 2011 15:02
Friendly traditional country pub, completely unpretentious. Stopped off there whilst out walking and found we were made welcome with 2 good beers on hand pumps and good selection of proper pub food. Felt comfortable and relaxed, would definitely return here. DottyMcDots - 5 Nov 2011 16:54
Totally with you Triathlongirl - How the heck people and thier chavy offspring exxpect to use pubs and therir facilities without paying is beyond me. We need a campaign to kick kids out of our pubs, if you have saucepan lids do us all a favour and take them to a bloody cafe and leave the pubs to the ADULTS kevmac - 4 Jul 2011 21:51
Excellent pub, CAMRA winner - simple good food. Reading other comments here it is laughable that people feel they can use the pub facilities (the play area) without actually using the pub. Perhaps we should all come round to your garden and set up on your land - point made! As far as the comment re the visiting the school is concerned, the pub is hardly likely to be open at the end of the school day! And if you fancy drinking at that time then you are maybe better found in a working men's club. The pub is lovely, the staff are friendly, beer is good (hence the CAMRA award) and the food is of decent size, good value and tasty. Jazz nights are fabulous and exclusive and the Sunday carvery is a bargain and always hits the spot. Fully recommended - we always use it, as do many of our friends! triathlongirl - 4 Jul 2011 21:25
Good selection of ales however the lager and cider never tastes quite right, the decor needs a lot of work, the cooler is regularly down and the prices are too much for what you're paying. However the pub dog is a very pleasant creature and I find the locals polite and welcoming. The venue is too small for the jazz night they run. cja1000 - 23 Jul 2010 23:11
