Walked to here from Deal on a glorious sunny day. Great beer, and a decent sandwich, sat outside looking out to sea.

On a sunny day last week I popped in here for a quick pint with some friends as we were camping nearby. The pub interior seemed gloomy and at 2pm some other customers were being turned away having asked for food, as the "kitchen was closed".I never understand why UK establishments turn away trade like this, then complain they are going to the wall.

Still, we got our pints of Master Brew and enjoyed them outside watching the sea and the great view across to France.

Make no mistake and be under no illusions about the food here. Its frozen, defrosted and microwaved. Slopped onto a plate and served with the usual finesse you'd expect from an uninspiring British pub. There's even a monster barking Alsation locked in a room above to welcome you. The Brakes Brothers van eases its way up the road on a weekly basis.
The location however is stunning. It makes it all the more miserable to sit there looking out to sea wondering why on earth there isn't some fresh fish being served. To add insult to injury they serve Green lipped New Zealand mussels.......local then? There are gorgeous local mussels to be had. Its a depressing experience indeed. Don't go there for the food. Go to France instead.
