I visited this pub on 3 occasions in May , for a couple of pints at teatime. Each night I was made to feel very welcome by the staff and thoroughly enjoyed the beer and the "feel " of the pub. Just wished I could have stayed longer . Feel a bit mean giving a 7 , but hopefully i'll get back one day and 8 or 9 it!

Nice back street pub. Typical un-modernised. Good pool table, welcoming landlord and friendly locals. Lots of competition in the area.

More of an update. Still well run and comfortable as per MOG comments. Quiz Tues at 8.30. Well kept Harveys Sussex bitter. Opposite the Sussex tavern-a no brainer for choice. Lovely bar staff. Not tried any food but never disappointed on the limited beer front. One of the best in Hove, although has little competition.

Nice traditional local: good, well-kept ales, laid back friendly atmosphere, excellent music, welcoming management, and a three-minute walk from the seafront. Couldn't get much better [unless they get a piano...].

A compact traditional pub located in a side street. Small lounge with wood pannelled walls and a pool table at the front. Round the wall seating comfortable but a bit firm. Only 1 cask ale, Harveys Sussex bitter which was well kept. Friendly convivial atmosphere.
