Very pleasant rural pub and restaurant. Real ales are the usual Jennings fayre, but very well kept. Sneck Lifter was excellent. Food is a little pricey but very good quality, would certainly visit again.

We have stayed at this place a few times and really love it. Yes, it's Jennings, but all beers I tried (in fact all of the range) were very good. Food is ok too. Rooms lovely with great views. The staff are probably the most polite people I've ever met and can't do enough for you. Worth staying here, walking into Grasmere (on the back roads) to Tweedies Bar, then coming back here to finish off.

This is a very good pub in a very attractive rural location which can be visited without having to pay for parking. As the previous reviewer says, the views from the windows are stunning.

It offers the usual selection of Jennings brews the Cocker Hoop was pretty good, as was our food which took a while to be served but was obviously freshly cooked to order and good VFM.

The Travellers Rest will certainly be on our itinerary for our next visit to the Lakes unlike many of the other pubs that we tried during our recent visit.

Nice country pub situated just north of Grasmere on the main road north to Keswick. The views from the windows are stunning. Nice welcoming interior with roaring open fire. As I remember, there were 3-4 Jennings ales from handpull. If stopping here, I recommend continuing into Grasmere itself to visit Tweedies Bar in the Dale Lodge Hotel for 7 real ales and a perry. I'll write a review as soon as I can get it added!

What could be a lovely old inn was spoilt for us during our brief visit by a chronic lack of staff. One harassed young lady seemed to be pulling pints, serving food and receiving hotel guests. Perhaps we just caught it on a bad day.
