| Because of the customers I have always loved this pub, it is friendly, trouble free, one of the cheapest pubs in the area and as Trigger123 said has the best, warmest smoking area. After years of Kay and Dave 'ownership' it has recently been taken over by a new family. Tom and Nicky are a cheerful, happy couple who obviously love what they do. Since they arrived the pub is cleaner, happier and best of all food driven (one of the things that had let it down badly). It was a surprise to discover that the kitchen has an oven as before everything had been microwaved or deep fat fried in dirty oil. Now it is freshly made, has a huge choice, generous portions and very reasonably priced. As they are still new I won’t be too gushy but if it keeps going the way it is I’ll never have to turn my oven on again! Sunshine69 - 19 Mar 2011 13:30 |
| I met Dave, (the owner) while on a business trip. He invited me back to the pub and found the beer was perfect, the atmosphere was great, and the owners& employees were some of the friendliest people I've ever met! There was a number of regulars there and they also treated me like a regular... I got the opportunity to go back again last year and it was as good as the first time. | Best place to drink in Stanwell. Love the outside TV great for smokers who can stay dry and warm and never miss a goal. The beer is good, i also like the fact that your dogs are welcome. Basic food tho could be better. Trigger123 - 20 Mar 2010 15:48 |
