We were staying locally and were recommended a visit, so we went last Friday night (May 28th). It was quiet, we ordered two meals, and were AMAZED with the size and quality of the food; a massive portion of chips, half a pint of prawns that came with a baguette and dressed salad, and an amazing beef sizzler. The beer was in good nick, although the selection was a bit boring, Courage Bitter and Directors. A great pity it was so quiet, I guess the usual clientele had gone into town to start the Bank Holiday? Would we go back? You bet!!

The food is AMAZING here, went there for our Christmas party and had a great time. It's clean, light and friendly........my ONLY criticism is that it's more of a resturant than a pub. Still, it's totally different to what it used to be, a big well done to the new owners!

Great Pub with excellent service. We went on Tuesday and it was packed but we still got served within a minute of getting to the bar. Went back again on Thursday and had a meal which was really good. Three real ales and a cider on plus a great selection of Lager for my mate. Well worth a visit.

I've just returned home after spending the evening at THE ROCK - The food was absolutely fantastic, mouth-watering and excellent value. A wide selection to be had from this individualistic menue. I would personally recommend the Calves Liver (8) and fish from the separate fish menu. All cordon bleu standard food. I eat out probably 3-5 times per week and this food is better than alot of food i've eaten in top class restaurants in Poole & Bournemouth. The staff and Chef (Mark) are attentive and friendly. They do anything to cater for the guest's wishes. Front of house, and I believe current manager, Dave are to be commended in turning this former dingy pub into a light, airy and friendly modern eating & drinking establishment. I'm sure it will continue to do well w and would strongly recommend a visit either to eat or just for a social glass of wine or pint. Finally, I briefly attended THE ROCK last week on a Thursday (Kareoke) and found it again to be friendly, entertaining and a good social evening. I was even persuaded to sing a couple of songs (my first time at Kareoke)!! Again, well a worth a visit. I found easy local street parking and a stones throw walk from the town centre. I'll certainly be making THE ROCK a regular and for business meetings during the day!

Have to update my review as it's now been totally refurbished and is completely unrecognisable. Food now served here, the place is all wooden floorboards and trendy lighting with a patio and decking area out the back. Was quite busy for early Thursday evening. Well worth checking it out, especially if you can remember what The Rock used to be like!
