This was the first of five visits to good beer guide pubs in the area and just like the other four it certainly did not disappoint. We quaffed a perfect pint of crown "traditional" brewed on the site and sat in the extension out the back lookin at the great views, 8/10

This an excellent pub. Well worth the short tram trip out from the Centre. The ever changing guest beers sit nicely next to the excellent home produced ales. Food is excellent value as well.

Coming from the South East I appreciate the pricing policy. Not many places left where you can get a pint for under £2.

Certainly the kind of place I would like to stay.
The home brews are fantastic. I had the well-hopped "Hillsborough Pale Ale" and the "Traditional Bitter". The "Stannington Stout" is an award winner. All beers, especially the home brews, are cheap, even for Sheffield. Kid on the bar asked if I wanted my Salamander Shogun Stout topped up, and for once I was in a position to say no, that the head was the perfect size.
Website and chalk board update to show what ales are on each day.
Lovely view of the hills from the rear.

Nothing but praise.
