user reviews of the Alma Arms, Navestock

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I have been here four times now and each time I had a good experience.

It is more a restuarant than a pub to be honest - you wont find too many people just there for a drink - and serves good homecooked food which I have always really enjoyed.

Only downside is the whole 'going to collect your own food', which can be annoying, and the 'pa' system can be a bit hard to hear over the noise of a crowded pub.

A decent pub with a few good ales and very nice food.

This is a Fawlty towers pub. Too cold to sit in conservatory, and most people had their coats on in the pub. You can't set up a tab, you can't use a card under £15, You can't use the special offer until 8.30 pm although the staff are standing around with nothing to do. you have to go to the right till to order, they give you a number which is then called out on the pa, like a station, then you have to go and get it. the food was like school dinners. I guess the pensioners/customers thought it good value.

This pub is off the beaten track and hard to find, but once you find it, you will be glad you did. The food here is all home cooked and is to die for. I believe it is a family run pub that has been owned by the same family for years. It has a nice conservatory area that has been added onto the back, which is nice to sit in during the summer months. Otherwise this place is your typical, cozy country pub that serves great food and drink.

they advertise in our local newspaper www.almarms.com but no search engine can find it sounds a nice pub.
