Sadly this place has gone to the dogs. Guest ales were noticable by their absence. The only thing on was the usual mass produced nitro-fizz kiddie lagers. As far as I can gather they have changed landlords twice in the past year. Pete has gone and took the buzz and atmosphere this pub had with him. Now its just another souless bar in a city full of souless bars. This just proves that so much of what makes a pub great is down to the landlord and the customers. Lose that and all you are left with is an empty space. Zaphod - 12 Apr 2007 13:10
I went here with a mate midweek in the afternoon and I thought this place was pretty poor. No ales on tap, terrible digital radio station playing loud intermittent music, atmosphere as flat as the lager I was forced to buy through lack of choice. dannycb - 4 Mar 2007 13:59
Nice pub, went in and chatted to the lovely Kate, who apologised profusely when there was no lagers on tap and lent me her darts to play with. Definitely will be popping back in.. jubbely - 24 Jul 2006 17:13
Nice to see the pub getting good reviews, Because let me tell you boys and girls, this pub was probably the busiest pub in the east end bar none, in the late seventies to late eighties this pub was sardines, thur- sun There was a couple of others equally like it, The rose and punch bowl, carpenters arms, jug house, prince regent to name but a few. those were the days. you dont know what you missed. moncrief - 6 Jan 2006 10:41
Not a bad little place, specially on Karaoke night. Only thing is, it's a bit dark! ST2004 - 12 Dec 2005 20:40
