a really friendly pub where the landlord and landlady make a big effort to make your day/night, if you want posh dont go, if you want a real traditional pub where you can have fun as long as you dont upset the rest of the customers this is the place for you, they have beer garden,bands/ quizzes/poker/pool/jukebox/bandit and a good sports channel with all the top games a really good local or great for just a quick pint.

Well, after reading Foxhole's comment we decided to pop in here on Friday, simply because we were in the area, and it was a damn awful day, where the rain was streaming down everywhere, and it was the 1st day of the Golf Ryder Cup too, so we thought it would be shown in here, as it advertises SKY Sports on the banner outside.........

Anyway, what we found was a drab, boring, lifeless Pub, with NO customers, no music, no SKY Sports showing, and no atmosphere either. So we just bought a couple of Pints, and sat in the window having a chat for an hour or so, but we were the only people in here on a Friday afternoon, and I must admit, I don't think I would go back here again..........

It seems the past history of this Pub, is keeping customers away, as even the students don't use it nowdays, and I can see why too. Looks like the new Licensees have a lot of work to do, to get ANY trade in the place nowdays......

Good Luck to them, I think they are going to need it........

Called in the other Sat night at 9ish, was pretty quiet for such a large pub just a dozen or so drinking at the bar and a handful at tables. Had a pint of hand-pulled Brains Gold which was VERY nice. Would've thought that alone would attract custom once the word is out.

Sorry Foxhole......

Not been near the Cricketers for a while now, since my last post, don't know of anybody that is a regular there nowdays either. If it is open regularly, that is probably a good start though, might be worth you popping in next weekend and putting a comment up on here, give us a better idea of the place........

Drove past the Cricketers this afternoon (a rainy one at that) and it was open. Any news on it Duncan? Heading for the new Indian at the Patti Pavilion next weekend and was thinking of popping in the Cricketers first if it's tidy...
