Looks OK from a distance, but as you see the signage close up you get that dreadful sinking feeling that you are not going to get a decent pint of beer inside. Having said that, that atmosphere seemed more friendly than most other pubs in the area and there is quite a nice area out the back. Had to make do with a 'nothing' pint of John Smiths, but even a single real ale on could make this a reasonable place. Shame. rpadam - 17 Jul 2009 23:59
Was fine when i went in on a midweek afternoon. Not the nicest interior but a pleasant garden which overlooks a small stream. Handy for the station. nickthefish - 31 May 2009 08:47
Not somwhere to meet new friends for sure, quite agressive hate filled undertones especially towards those who don't have a trade and/or drive a white van. Could really be so much better/busier/more fun to go as it's so close to a train station. Could encourage more civilised younger clientelle also. Must drop in prices across the board as well as estabishementm on weekends. Average cpm - 7 Apr 2009 16:12
A rather uncouth clientele when i was here last week, not really the place to take a beautiful woman williamshakespeare - 27 Mar 2009 10:39
A very good 'community' pub with a warm welcome and friendly locals. A very lively atmosphere - the landlord and his team are obviously putting a lot of effort into the place which is clearly appreciated by the regulars. Only drawback from my point of view - no ales, so another session on Guinness (not really a hardship). Came in here after leaving the Sun and Woolpack down the road and the difference in ambience was very noticeable after the emptiness of the S&W. BobOs - 22 Dec 2008 11:20
