We ate here last summer with a friend and really enjoyed it, the food was well cooked pub grub and very good value! The staff were also very friendly as were the other patrons. On such a good experience last time we decided to take some friends to the pub for a meal earlier this year. I was shocked to find it had lost its welcoming feel and we all felt very un-welcome as soon as we set foot inside, also the place smelt very strongly of cigarette smoke and judging by the smoke hanging in the air someone had only just put a cigarette out! Due to the atmosphere one of our party suffering from asthma we didn’t feel comfortable staying there. A real shame we will not be going there again! Helenw - 11 Aug 2009 14:10
3 real ale pumps, only 1 working (Pedigree) - the place seems a bit empty these days. Beer was pretty good though. robfrancis - 28 Jun 2009 19:48
There seems to be a change in bar staff since I visited over 6 months ago. The service has definately improved and the atmosphere was as I expected, relaxed and friendly. The pub was certainly very nice on my last visit but this time it was so much better! I must comment on what seems to be the prettiest pub in the town. A lot of effort has been made to the front which ooks impressive and the garden was starting to take shape. Lets hope the good weather continues so others can enjoy it. This pub is an asset to Whitchurch. anonymous - 19 May 2007 21:16
A local, friendly pub with a fantastic atmosphere on the Saturday afternoon that myself and family visited. Full children's menu with main menu options available in smaller portions aswell. The real ale was in tip top condition and the staff were very friendly. General pub food was on offer, but the quality was high. We can highly reccommend this pub! S.M Evans - 12 Dec 2006 14:52
