I have to agree with previous comment but did visit over the half term break and found it was being sold and everything has turned around grumpy old staff gone new owners. No longer a chore for staff to have customers in the pub. new management are very nice. housewifefav - 7 Apr 2007 21:25
I visited this establishment on Sunday 28 January 2007 with my wife, daughter, son-in-law and 4 year old granddaughter. The pub was not busy and so queried why the food had taken well over an hour. The staff had forgotten to put the order through and promised to do so immediately ahead of any queue. The meals duly arrived - one setting short. this eventually arrived another 10 minutes later. There was no apology, in fact the management seemed totally unphased by the problems we had. We did eventually receive complimentary sweets, but not until after complaining about our treatment. To be fair, the food was plentiful and very tasty, although I would challenge the chef over the inclusion of Stilton cheese in the Stilton and leek pie - it was more like a cheese sauce!! The staff did not seem to be very happy either - not surprising from the way we saw them treated by the duty management (or were they the owners?) derek31a - 28 Jan 2007 22:58
My regular pub (well twice a week) Usually 3 x beers on hand pumps. Bass, Courage Best and Courage Directors. House wine is okay, well the Aussie Shiraz usually is the French stuff is often insipid muck. Very friendly staff, beautiful gardens, large car park, very reasonably priced food. Menu is good, English fayre. Gets busy on Fridays and Sundays and all the time in the summer. rgb - 25 Nov 2006 17:43
