Hmm, last visited the White House about twenty years ago. Nothing's changed. Still smells a bit, ghastly decor and fake stonework inside. Two ancient locals sat at the bar at lunchtime in stoney silence. "Sorry, no food but I could do you a sandwich". Goacher's Light was on gravity and pretty good. Pool table badly worn and old dog did a lot of coughing. Expecting him to pass out, we drank up and went down the road to the Good Intent. Well that was our 'Intent' but the place was shut in spite of the opening times in the window. No wonder some pubs are dying on their feet. Paul_Rochdale - 3 Feb 2010 22:12
In fact it's not all that little - far more spacious than it looks from outside. It certainly isn't your conventional 'country pub'. The decor is idiosyncratic to the point of eccentricity, though all in 'the best possible taste'! I should have stuck to the Goacher's Light, but was lured into a pint of Silver Star - a mistake, as it had obviously been sitting around in the barrel for far too long. All in all, though, it's a pub well worth a short detour, if only because it's something of a 'one-off'. Doesn't open till 7, by the way. earlydrinker - 5 Aug 2008 18:19
A little gem of a pub, a bit like slipping back into yesteryear. Sadly the landlord, Arthur recently passed away but his stalwart widow, Jan carries on in the grand old tradition of friendly service they've been known for over the years. Definitely worth a visit. aleman07 - 6 Jul 2007 13:37
A real old-fashioned country pub, with the local Goacher's ales direct from the barrel. (NB - You might also find the address given as Heath Road (wrong) in West Farleigh (correct). The best bet is to use the postcode to locate the pub on your GPS or internet mapping site of choice.) rpadam - 10 Nov 2006 21:26
