| Ok this is starting to get a bit daft. £3.90 for a pint of ale. Far too much. You don't pay those prices in the West End. Might drive to The Sportsman in Croxley rather than walk 50 yards from the office! davvac - 19 Sep 2011 22:41 |
| Good beer festival over the Bank Holiday weekend, showing the The Feathers isn't just all about the food. Great selection including beers by Thornbridge, Oakham, Red Squirrel and a few other leading lights of the renaissance in brewing. Particular favorite was Summer Wine Brewery's Diablo. Keep it up guys. davvac - 29 Aug 2011 13:37 |
| Lovely pub, bit expensive (I think it was £3.60 for my pint) but still worth a visit. Decked out nicely and the staff were very helpful. I only tried one beer but it was Castle Rock Harvest Pale which is a fantastic brew, if they are getting beers like that in then they are a good pub as far I am concerned. dyyony - 8 Aug 2011 21:32 |
| Well, we went back. Oh dear. Service was very slow, even though there were not as many customers as on my last visit. We waited for so long, I thought that I might have to pop home for another shave. The food, when it eventually arrived, was well presented, but only just warm. The beer was still in good nick, though. I will give it 3/10 this time, so as to average my rating at 5. If this had been my first visit, I would not contemplate a second. | When I went in, I thought that the place was a little on the pretentious side. However, the staff are very pleasant, efficient and helpful. They even laugh when the oversize menu gets too close to the lit candle on the table, and catches fire. The food is overpriced for what it is, but, it is rather good. As to the beer, I had the Castle Rock, Harvest Pale. An excellent brew, well kept and served just right. Mind you, at £3.60 a pint, it should be. Is a return visit warranted? Oh, yes.
