| Recent midday week lunch visit....bar far too small for amount of customers, young bar-staff over-worked until a woman appeared to get things under control. Food was very ordinary, had to wait, and service was poor. This place is trading on a past reputation which it isn't living up to. The situation is not enough to get by with, and there are plenty of other pubs nearby with just as attractive views. heliopolis - 22 Jul 2009 16:56 |
| Things seem to be improving. The formerly miserable barmaid who seems to have worked there for years now smiles and engages with the customers, which is refreshing, and the food has improved. It's still disappointing, but better than it was. Phmoo - 6 May 2009 21:04 |
| This is a wonderfull pub with very clearly very hardworking staff!! It does get tremendously busy and the facilities available in the kitchen and bar are terrible. The staff do their best and 9/10 I have a very very enjoyable time. The pub has been owned by a holding company for a number of years who refused to invest any money into the building and only allowed minimal budgets for staff etc... Now youngs have brought the pub and things are improving, investment is being provided and staff numbers are increasing. It is a very profitable pub and a pleasure to drink and eat in! | A great pub in a fantastic location. On a summer evening with a stunning sunset across the creek there can be few finer places. The food here is good, and they stock a good range of beers, although we were slightly surprised to find Peroni oon tap being sold at £4 a pint, and when we asked why it was so expensive we were told it was because it's a very good beer, and being near Chichester people will pay high prices! So steer clear of the outrageously priced Italian lager and you'll have a cracking visit! oxenhillshaw - 22 Aug 2007 09:32 |
| It's all very well saying sit back and enjoy the location, but when the pub is trading on it's location and being rubbish in the service and cleanliness department... My tiny hot chocolate was not hot and cost £2.00. The staff were unsmiling and ungracious, it took a long time to get served, and I overheard several complaints about the food being cold. Yes, the location is stunning, but this pub could be so, so much better then it actually is. Phmoo - 30 Jun 2007 23:14 |
