| I was in Shiplake for a wedding at the weekend and stopped by the Plowden Arms for lunch and a few drinks before the service. | Following on the the previously posted review I can confirm that the food is Fantastic!!! and any problems with the beer must have been a one off as the landlady Mira has just one the Brakspear "Best Beer & Cellar" Pub of the Year Award 2006 at the recent annual ceremony. | Now owned by the folks who did such a fantastic job at the the Five Horseshoes, Maidensgrove (I'm told). You can tell as the food has gone up a notch or five, the whole place has been cleaned-up and cleaned and painted. The beer was a rather iffy when I visted, which was a shame, but the lunch was superb. I'd hope the state of the beer was a one-off, but I'll check back to make sure.
