This pub is great if you are part of the great irish diaspora. If you have the temerity to be English you are as welcome as a rash. Incidentally, Cat is part of the occassionally resident band and a very fine singer who graces The Chevy and The Cart and Horses (sorry Cat, you've been rumbled!) Escoffier - 23 Apr 2008 12:00
The area seems to have improved just recently, so maybe I'll give this place another try. Albert_Campion - 10 Feb 2008 00:29
You're right is does sound like an advert - that wasn't really my intention. I think most people will agree that when you have been a patron of a pub for such a long time and seen the different landlords come and go and see how hard each one tries to make a go of things, you feel you need to put a good word in for your local and fight their corner if you like. The pub isn't as good as when Sean White had it, it's different to when Geoff had it and better than when Ted and Jenny had it. Everyone needs to be given a chance a making a go of a business and that's all the new governer is doing and I'm just backing his determination. It is also true that the area is a dive. cat76 - 11 Jan 2008 14:19

Hmm - funny. The post by 'anonymous' reads more like an advert than a review. How cynical of me. Part of the pub's problem is the area it's in - that stretch of road outside Maryland station is a hellhole and an absolute magnet for the dregs of humanity. Albert_Campion - 12 Dec 2007 17:26
