This pub is about 10 miles from Buxton, doesn`t anyone check these things before putting them on the site? Sleath - 15 May 2011 09:09
My wife and I called in on spec for lunch yesterday and were pleasantly delighted. Nice location, nice layout and an interesting menu. As Gristy said earlier the prices don't seem cheap on the blackboard, but on the plate they were certainly decent value. Small but decent selection of real ales, and we wlould definitely go there again. But on our visit, we were privileged to overhear an interesting cabaret. On the next table were a couple of a certain age ( okay - the same as us ) who were obviously on a first date ( seriously !! ) His stories were all food oriented, and he was describing and criticising the meal of marrowbone he had eaten in a "Michelin starred restaurant" in Edinburgh the previous week. It just so happens we had also seen that edition of Professional Master Chef the previous evening. I wonder whether he pulled ?? Anyway, back to the pub. Certainly worth a visit, compared to some other places we had visited during the week. philanders - 31 Oct 2010 00:07
An excellent pint of Hartington IPA, and not too far from home, efficient staff, appears dog friendly in the bar area, food menu looks very good, and reasonable prices, going to try a meal there with the family next weekend but well impressed on first visit, Wayfarer56 - 15 Aug 2010 18:31
Visited around 4.30pm on a fairly quiet Sunday afternoon, although nearby Hartington village was overflowing with visitors. Superb location in a dip at the bottom of a hill at the junction of two roads and a bridge, very attractive looking place. Decent enough beer from the Whim brewery, food listed up on large blackboard looked OK, although certainly not cheap. Would probably need to visit again at a busier time to get a true impression, but a nice quiet half-hour spent. Gristy - 7 Jun 2010 10:33
