My family and I decided to visit the Glasshouse on Easter Sunday for a family get together, we decided to book as we thought it was going to be busy, oh! it was busy, it was full of kids. The front of the pub was overrun with toddlers and children, and there was very limited parental control, please don't get me wrong we had two very young children with us but they would not have been allowed to get away with what these children where doing.....we made our way to the dining room only to find we were the only diners there, this made for a very lonely dining experience. We were just going to get up and leave (the screaming kids didn't help) and the Watchman were selling food but no alcohol when we decided to stick it out, big mistake! The food was cold, the main course (roast dinner) had things on none of us could identify the starter was ok and the pudding was lovely but the portions were to small but I suppose this is alacarte dining, now for three adults and one toddler plus drinks we were charged a grand total of 102 pounds, yep thats right 102 pounds, the only drinks we had were 2 halves of larger and 2 tonic waters. We won't be visiting again in a hurry unless its late evening.......this really is a pub for yummy mummys and daddies, give it a miss! LYNND01 - 9 Apr 2012 15:48
I completely agree with Niven, This could be a good pub-nice food at reasonable prices and well kept beer, but at lunchtimes it can be over-run with indisciplined toddlers, their mummies and push chairs the size of four wheel drives. It gives the impression of being an organised creche and I can't believe there is any money for the managemant in allowing this mayhem, which must put off "real drinkers"who would surely spend more money than the present clientele. I'm just off to lunch-at The Glasshouse-oh dear! huntforbeer - 25 Jan 2012 12:07
After visiting the Glasshouse after the big revamp a number of years ago I was very impressed with the turnaround, a very nice meeting point and night out, this soon became mine and my chums local. However, a few landlords and years later you would be excused if thinking that this has now turned into the local creche. Taking my parents out for a quick bite over the Christmas break, on opening the door we were met with kids playing on the floor and a number of them running around with parents without a care in the world, not to mention the bar staff ignoring this latest playground activity. I stopped going to the Glasshouse for this very same reason last year, but hoped it my have improved, but alas no...... What a shame as it has all the ingredients of being a great place but at the moment they are getting it badly wrong. Niven - 30 Dec 2011 19:20

i use this site as indication of the reputation of the pub. i have found some comments on this site rather disappointing. people should be allowed to go where the want if they have the money in their pocket. i have found rose (baglady to some) very friendly and seems to have a heart of gold.no one should bitch about people that do no harm to others just because they dont fit in to your stereotype of person that frequents this establishment. when i went in with a group of friends in feb i found certain barstaff very helpful and others moody and miserable. why are they doing this job. and this has happened on a few occasions. esp when i have gone with friends that have children. i thought barstaff were there to make to feel you welcome.... chavtastic - 19 Feb 2011 17:34
