Called in here for lunch with the missus. The standard food menu is pretty uninspiring but the specials board had some brilliant fish dishes. Combined with the beer this was a slightly expensive but very good lunchtime experience.

Nipped in here recently. The ales change regularly and all the other standard draughts are available of course. Again this is a pub that could be so much better than it actually is. Whoever is running the place shows very little interest and no imagination. Its become a 'nothing' pub. The menu is slightly expensive and completely lacks ambition. Still, it gets a 5/10 from me, with a 'must try harder' comment.

On previous visits to this place I'd not been impressed. Average gastropub, and not a surprise when it closed.

Local paper down here reports that it will re-open Good Friday, under a new landlady. It will offer Black Sheep, Landlord, Adnams Broadside, Ringwood Best & Summer Lightning on cask, which sounds a bit more promising.

In an age of pubs closing down I hope they make a success of this, it will be difficult as this place is a bit stuck out on a limb and won't get much walk-up trade.

I used to visit here for the food and lovely atmosphere on the weekends, yet recent changes to the management and senior staff have resulted in slowly increasing food prices with in my opinion "a slow decrease in the food quality and friendliness of the staff" therefore meaning I no longer visit.
For those with money exotic wines and spirits can be found here although it is slowly moving away from encouraging a drinking atmosphere by concentrating its efforts on publicising the restaurant.
