| I have used the Greyhound on and off for many years but would never venture here prior to a stadium event due to the crowds and exploitive pricing although it should be mentioned that the Greyhound is far from being the only culprit. It is OK for Arena events as the price hikes don’t apply however, like most Wembley pubs, you wouldn’t chose to spend the night here. Its proximity to the Wembley complex makes it OK as a meeting place but at best it can be described as an average, between the wars, boozer which is either packed to the rafters or dead as the proverbial dodo. The interior is smaller than it looks, mainly as the rear of the pub doubles up as a large pool room with 4 tables and a function room also tacked on. The main bar is fairly ordinary with a few bits of coloured glass and funnel lamps hanging over the bar but there are some interesting pictures and displays on the wall including picture of the original pub and a train timetable listing 48 special trains running from Scotland for the 1928 Home International. The beers are a bit run of the mill with standard lagers and bitters although whenever I am here the only Ale (Bombardier) is usually off. There are at least 4 plasma screens and the usual run of quiz and fruit machines plus a dart board and cash machine. Generally the pub has a bit of a run down and tatty feel to it but I have never experienced any major problems here with the service although I do pick and time my visits carefully. | To the punter below. No, I'm not from the "opposition" but a local resident who loathes and despises the cynical raising of prices and hiding of the bar tariff that goes on in some pubs in Wembley on match days. Pepole should be made to feel welome in Wembley not ripped off. I know for a fact that both the Torch and Thirsty Eddie's do not raise their prices on match days and as for the price of a coke i can only hope that comments on here have shamed the pub into serving coke at a more realistic price. mgdelectus - 5 Jun 2007 18:14 |
| I was in the Greyound last night before the England international football game at the new Wembley stadium Yes the pints were £3.50 but as we noticed all the draught was £3.50 so it seemed logic to me and my mates to drink San Mig which in my local is £3.70 anyway. The bar staff were all really friendly and fast it seemed to us they were just trying to have fun and serve the massive amount of customers as fast as they could. When ever I look at these web sites I wonder if most of the bad comments are placed by the competition.Thirsty Eddies??We asked the price of a coke out of interest and found it is £1.80? I will definately be using the Greyhound before I go to Wembley next time anonymous - 2 Jun 2007 13:58 |
| In there saturday for the football, same comments as above, looked like a crap harvester,£3.50 for what didnt look like apint in a plastic glass, surly doormen giving you the evil eye on the way in,heard someone moaning about the four quid cokes, full of kids, what were they drinking?then the landlady walks out the door and comes back in with a multipack of 2 litre coke bottles that she,d obviously just bought from the shop next door, complete rip off, avoid like the plague,we went up that thirsty eddies as well and couldnt agree more with the review below. The people who gave the good reviews for the greyhound must have been on acid aidan2323 - 3 May 2007 16:38 |
| Regarding the two posts below - I too walked into the pub was immediately told by two hapless punters about the inflated prices they had just paid. I left to find "Thirsty Eddies" up the road, a basic standard Irish pub with friendly service and first class Guinness at regular pub prices. I certainly won't be going back to the Greyhound for before any other pre-Wembley drinks. Why do pubs insist on ripping customers off like this? mgdelectus - 1 May 2007 14:03 |
