A cosy, low ceilinged Inn where you are warmed by an open fire. The beers and lagers are fresh and well kept. Available ales when I visited were Black Sheep and Spitfire with Timothy Taylor incoming. I had some Stella which was crisp and clean. The food is simple pub grub; I chose ham, egg and chips which was delicious. I was served quickly and it was priced reasonably at £6.95. The pub is quiet enough to talk easily and the new publicans are welcoming and friendly. I will be returning. jooce - 20 Jan 2012 11:03
The rather drab bar area fails to live up to the promise of the nice traditional exterior. Brains Rev James and Jennings Cumberland made for a rather odd 'long distance' beer selection. Food looked OK from what we saw. Good toilets in new block at rear. Plain but adequate garden. rentaquote - 5 Jul 2011 22:47
Lovely walk from goring.... This is my first oasis for refreshment. Opened the door, warm welcome but I am the only punter..... Had a quick pint in the garden but felt a bit awkward to eat there. A nice pub, but it wont survive unless people go there. Mappiman - 30 Jun 2011 18:49
This pub reflects the change in Pangbourne and Whitchurch. It serves excellent food, has excellent staff and a very warm atmosphere. The pizzas are great. alipali - 29 Jan 2011 17:44
Forgot to mention the food! I had my family visiting from Ireland and arranged with the landlady for a booking of 10, she was more than happy to help and I think between us we had just about everything on the menu! Definately recommend Steak and ale pie and the lasagne!!! SandraCottle - 10 Dec 2010 23:15
