user reviews of the Tiger, Dartford

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I live 2 streets away and the music and karaoke they blare out is so loud it's as if they're outside my house. I can't imagine how it is for the poor souls that share a street with them. I'm so happy I'm moving home so I can get away from their noise! It's maddening. And no I'm not an old whiney woman. I'm 23 and love getting drunk etc but seriously man, no one wants to hear you scream along to "500 miles" from the afternoon til midnight. Nobody appreciates it. My baby certainly doesn't during nap time especially. I definitely would have complained by now but it appears they don't even have an official website and aren't officially even on Google Maps -.-. One of my neighbours has actually said a few people have moved and sold their house because of it so don't live near it because it's truly awful, especially when it's hot weather.

I've been here about three or four times and always thoroughly enjoyed it. For me one of the better pubs in Dartford. I would go in regularly but have now moved to the opposite side of Dartford. I'm quite surpirsed about the last poster - myself and a pal have always found it very friendly. During our last visit we were offered a bowl of chips by a total stranger brought in from the nearby Kebab Shop, and ended up discussing rock music with him for about an hour! Darts seem quite popular and like many Dartford pubs they serve Courage Best which is a bonus.
Not sure if the place is now under new management as the barmaid who was always there wasn't during our last visit.

Terrible

I moved to the area and was looking for a good local pub that I could meet the local community. The pub is old and very tired. I found the staff hostile and the whole place just did not welcome me. It needs to massive refurbishment and I even asked my neighbours about the pub incase it was me who just had a bad experience, but they both, one a fairly young couple and the other a couple who are around 50years old. They both said that they did not like the pub and confirmed my feelings about it. Shame as it looked like a good potential spot to go, but in reality it needs to be changed.

Rather camouflaged within the surrounding houses and barely noticeable from the main road, you would not know the Tiger existed unless you lived next door or were making a specific trip. Having lived in Dartford for nearly 25 years I can honestly say this was only my second visit the first probably being 10/15 years ago. I have no recollection of my previous visit and wasnt expecting too much this time but my quest to get all Dartfords pubs on the BITE site rallied me into making the effort. The first impressions were that the mock Tudor interior is perhaps a bit dated and there are few signs of any creature comforts. The L shaped pub has a darts area one end and pool table at the other. The 3 TVs were basic types rather than flashy plasma screens and overall it appears in need of a bit of modernization. That said, the welcome from the locals was second to none and I get the impression that there is a good community spirit here the sort of pub where everyone knows everyone else. Expecting only keg beers, I was surprised to see a guest ale (Golden Delicious) to supplement what would otherwise be a fairly standard selection (Courage Best was the other Real Ale on offer). Overall, a far better pub than I was anticipating and I will certainly not wait another 10 years before I go back.
