Booked for 7.30pn 28/09, arrived 7.25 given menus and drinks

Saw noone for HALF AN HOUR!!!-got so fed up decided to leave-tried to pay for drinks -again noone there-a rubbish place. It was not busy at all so I assume the waitress was having a smoke or possibly a nap?

Never go there again

Good food, very pricey, but work paid for it so im not that bothered!! Nice pint of adnams bitter. Very much of a foodie pub than a good beer establishment. Good staff, Dave was a good lad.

Andy, who used to work there, has now bought the pub from the Spirit Group and turned it into a gastro pub. We walked in on a wet saturday night to find we were the only ones simply drinking. Average main course £15.95.Great shame as the three of us used to pop in for a sandwich or meal depending on how hungry we were. Now I simply can't afford to go there. The beer was always 100% perfect but you have to draw the line somewhere. Great bloke though and good luck to him!

Very overpriced for average food. You get the feeling the new owners are trying to turn a lovely old Essex country pub into a 5 star restaurant. Will not be going back!

Excellent pub - easily one of the best in the area with good management, regular and honest locals and ale of high quality. Very busy on Bank Holidays with a good atmosphere. Service is usually first rate. Well worth a visit.
