When visiting this area I make a point of visiting this pub. Always made to feel welcome and the beer is invariably top notch. Keep it up - this is a gem compared to other pubs nearby.

We came across the musketeer on a stag do last weekend as it was situated just 10 minutes walk from the cottage.

We spent most of lunchtime and afternoon in there and everyone was very welcoming. We were respectful of the locals and they of us having fun. We even returned in the evening and were welcomed with open arms by Michael and Anne who made sure we were looked after.

They had a decent range of ales and lagers on tap and the lunch time food was ideal, large portions and very accomodating.

I wouldnt say it was a pub you would spend the day in as a couple but with a group of friends it was great.

Recommended to all who visit pennington/lymington.

Mike, the landlord has made me feel most welcome at the bar, as have the regulars. I attended, in fact organised the live music for the beer festival, April 2010 and it went down a treat! Everybody had a great time and stayed til the end. The place was bustling but not bursting at the seams which made for a well spirited evening.
I know the pub is quiet but sociable on a normal day/eve and is one I would visit on passing through Pennington.

I'm not sure what it is, but The Musketeer went down the pan a bit for us a year or so ago. I think it was because the service wasn't exactly 'with a smile'. More like no chit chat, take your money and dump change in your hand by some sour faced old trout.
Fortunately, someone else was serving during our Christmas /New Years visit. Good atmosphere and smiles all round. Something I was pleased to see continuing when we visited again a month or so ago. Pleasant chit chat at the bar with the landlord and a decent pint of ale. Hopefully The Musketeer continues on this path. It can be a great pub.

Used to be my local for many, many years but stopped going in as beer awful and service indifferent. Thank goodness Mike is in now and actually knows how to run a pub. No more screaming babies, dogs or mobile phones behind the bar. Pity still Courage stuff there but at last starting to get some beers in that are not off the Courage list. Consistent quality still to be achieved but will probably come as alienated former customers start to return.
