Now renamed to the Seven Stars. Has a good range of Three Kings beers with unusual guest cask and keg beers. Still one of the best pubs in the town. Always worth a visit.

Lynne Hale has been running this pub for over a year. The 3 real ales are well kept. The customer base is very friendly. Still free soup and often bar nibbles
"Beer From The Wood" festival 30th April 2015 to 4th May 2015 - 12 beers

A large group of friends getting together for the first time in a few years chose to meet here, 'cos it has such a good reputation. We were expecting a good night and prepared to spend well. Oh how very disappointed we were. Saturday night and we had just settled in with our first drinks, expecting to enjoy a pleasant night in a "friendly" atmosphere.
All was going well until we were very impolitely told by a musician that we had to move. Apparently some buskers always sit in those seats. We had little choice, so we put up with moving seats and got on with enjoying our drinks and own company. The music started and we thought it might make for a nice background, however it was not very good and it appeared to be played only for the pleasure of the musicians themselves.
We drank our drinks and left to go to another pub where we carried on spending money until the early hours of Sunday morning.
We will not be back to North Shields “best kept secret”. We are happy enough to spend a lot of money in another pub, if you prefer to value the comfort of some buskers over your customers.

The barmaid mentioned in the last review by vyseroy no longer works at Oddfellows. In light of this we are hopefull that the reviewer will withdraw his review although we accept that it was fair at the time. We pride ourselves in being one of, if not the, most friendly pubs in the town and would like to promise all customers, both current and prospective, a warm welcome.

My partner and I have been to this pub several times and always thought it friendly and welcoming. The pub seems to have a lot to offer to its customers having a great selection of real ales, free homemade soup and BBQ food and an interesting book swap system. Unfortunately our recent visit left a lot to be desired. As previously mentioned free bar food was always an unexpected but delightful aspect of this pub however on this occasion we were made to feel extremely unwelcome through a mere misunderstanding. Unfortunately on this occasion the "free" bar food was apparently only available to a select number of customers which was in no way made clear and which we were unnecessarily informed of in a most unfriendly and accusatory tone, by the blonde middle aged bar maid, utterly humiliating my partner and I. This is not the service we had come to expect from this little quiet pub and we will not be subjected to such treatment again as the whole experience has left us with an unpleasant after taste and so we won't be frequenting this establishment in the future.
