I was advised by the locals that the Sandpiper was the best pub for food and handy that it serves all day.
Upon arrival I noticed it was Greene King run - oh well.

Inside it was quite roomy filled mainly with family's or groups of single mums. It was busy but not noisy.
TV screens were dotted about but not obtrusive.

Apart from GK IPA and Abbot a decent couple of guest beers were available; Hop Back Crop Circle and Downton Honey Blonde.
Food choice was plentiful and all staff were very pleasant.
Maybe not a drinkers pub but ok for a bite to eat.

Yes this might not be the most exciting pub in the world, or Dorset for that matter, but it does the job fairly well and is absolutely brilliant for sport on the box. There's about 10 tvs in the main bar area, usually switched on to 3 or more channels (Footy dominates though) and if you don't like that sort of thing there is the quieter restaurant area through the partition. Ok

I popped in last night after a stroll on the quay. I hadn't visited for two years. Gone were the scary tattooed types and instead, there was a nice 'family and couple' sort of clientele. The Pub was clean and well cared for - I felt safe. I noticed that a high rating of 5 had been achieved for hygiene. The food looked good.
Well done.

A pub of two halves... to steal the old sporting cliche. The Sandpiper is a good value Greene King pub with friendly staff that's seen a real turnaround under the new managers. There seem to be more evening events (quiz night, rock'n'roll bingo) than previously. The sports bar is usually lively on match days, but luckily it's separated from the restaurant area. Meals are good value (whenever I have visited food's been available from 12 noon - 9 pm as advertised) and it's a short stroll to or from the seafront if you need to walk off your lunch.

We still visit this pub, although after the recent refubishment, the meal deal has gone up to two for 9. Still good value for money, though. Still two real ales, but the new gaffer seems a bit matter-of-fact. Polite, but not especially friendly. We will keep going, though.
