Yet another change in management! Ian and Suzanne are the new tenants and want to reverse some of the recent changes implemented at O'Connells So give them a chance - by the way they are starting poker every Thursday night! malkythealky - 14 Apr 2011 12:39
I am some what shocked at the latest below messages. I've regularly used O'Connells for the last 5 years at least 3 or 4 nights a week when i get off the train on my way home. Since the new mangement have taken over the pub has gone down hill. Before the pub was welcoming, always busy in there, warm, clean great beer, friendly staff and great customers. NOW the pub is empty never seen more than 3 people in there including bar staff cold front door always open Messy - Bare walls and super heros pictures on walls ?!?! More interested in selling cakes and tea then pulling a decent pint I've also been advised that they letting people in that were barred before (trouble makers) So overall im very unhappy with the new management and how they are changing it (y fix something that is not broken?!?!) I would reccomend this pub now to someone who is looking for a quick pint and enjoy tumbleweed as company! P.S wouldnt advise to use the toilets unless you like standing next to thugs snorting drugs....... HonestMan1965 - 16 Mar 2011 19:55
i am a friend of the new manager and really look forward to visiting him this weekend. He's a good guy and has lots of amazing ideas, he's also approachable and wont tolerate troublemakers. I cant wait to see all his ideas unfold!. real ale is something he wants to do!!!. I am glad he's barred trouble makers, hopefully in time the pub will attract a wide selection of decent law abiding people, who want to enjoy a drink without hoodlums spoiling it for everyone. Watch this space!!! He also has had encouragement and support from several locals which he really appreciates, he speaks of them very highly. janinemariap - 23 Feb 2011 12:19
The last review on this pub was over 1 year ago, and yes it WAS a dingy place to avoid, but 3 weeks ago a new manager took over the bar. So what does this mean? Well it means the trouble makers have been barred, the pub is currently going through re-decoration inside & outside and oh yes, the name of the pub is changing, as there is such a negative vibe attached to the old name, its time for a turn. How do i know its making any form of difference, I've been in twice and spoken to people who have avoided the place like the plague in the last few years, but now find the people/staff very welcoming, and are looking forward to the new look this pub is going to have. They will be back Other reviews have asked/said this pub needs an overall, and if this pub can show to turn a profit very quickly, then it will get its overall and has the potential to be an amazing pub for all. Mother & children afternoons are being set up so local mums can get to know each other with tea & cake and the children can be entertained. Quiz and karaoke nights won't be far behind. The pub currently has some really great drinks offers as well. One for you artists - if you have an artistic side, part of the bar walls are going to be turned for the general public to decorate, so if your an artists or someone who just has something to say (as long as it is not swearing or rude drawings for the sake of rudness) then please come and have a go - as long as you sign it, it will stay. If you are looking for a pub that is very welcoming, or one that you want to be inspired by, or one you can have a few drinks and have a laugh with friends, then this is the place. Get in on the ground floor of this amazing opportunity and watch as this pub rise from the ashes into a place you want to come for a night out. davebcw - 21 Feb 2011 19:41
