Went in while it was snowing also. was there with my missus and another couple with a young child. Staff couldn't be more helpful, surrounding were beautiful (but everything is when it snows). Food was fairly ordinary but overall very nice. PerryGee - 4 Jun 2009 10:47
popped in in the snow, was friendly, food for a picky eater (im vegan) was very poor, but beer was good (rpide) bit sad that there were no local beers availible as the master brew was off. Mattclary - 5 Feb 2009 10:44
The best homemade Burgers I have ever had in a pub! great service and a gorgeous open fire jolder74 - 19 Dec 2008 00:19
Update on my previous comments. Went on a Sunday afternoon and were told we would have to wait 40 minutes to even order food as they were so busy, despite many empty tables. This is the second time in three visits we have left unfed (the other because it was the wrong time in the middle of the afternoon), and we have cancelled plans to bring visiting relative for lunch. Such a shame to have to lower my previous marks, as this could be one of the best pubs in the county. If you are planning to seek out this isolated pub, I strongly recommend you phone ahead to avoid disappointment. Went to the Lower Bell for lunch, and persuaded a couple asking for directions not to bother. Trabbs_Boy - 15 Jun 2008 20:10
popped in this weekend and enjoyed a pint of pride, nice place, cosy and friendly. Mattclary - 3 Mar 2008 11:22
