Its a shame this bar suffers from poor unwelcoming door staff. Like many bars in Leigh staff have been employed to stand at the door and support the existence of an enjoyable evening by the patrons who choose to drink in this establishment. As you may appreciate my embarrassment when I bring some overseas relations to experience the local bars and to be told at this bar that they are unable to gain entry due to them wearing sandals on a warm summers evening. Whilst other bars and the restuarant we come from were ok with this it was very disappointing to be told that it was the policy of this bar. Having questioned the door staff i was told that "no sandals were permitted in this bar" which I found somewhat ridiculous having drunk in sandals many times during the day before. Whilst I appreciate the bar staff perform a good job its just a shame that door staff remain confrontational and refuse entry based on footwear. If this was a nightclub we would have understood however this is a bar. Unfortunately this is not somewhere I will be recommending to my friends and family.

Bar staff are great. Thats about the only good thing about this bar. Since McManus took over just gone down hill, dare I say it much better when owned by Estuary. As with many bars in this town though worst thing is the doorstaff. If your friends with them (as are many in this bar) be careful. You dont have to get in trouble to be in trouble. Problem is same doorstaff in most of the pubs in this area, too many of the door staff are local or are friends with the people that drink here - Old door staff were much better. Steer clear unfortunatley due to doormen and some of the peope that drink in here, shame, as staff are great that work behind the bar as are the mangers

It's OK, I guess. The food is way overpriced for what turns up, but the pub is clean and the staff are friendly. The layout always makes it seem crowded and not in a nice way.

The food here is great. I also must comment on the excellent pint of Greene King IPA I had here. The guinness is well kept and presented. However, I feel the prices are a little high and this is a typical oldies "stella artois" kind of a summer venue.

Rather expensive and not a great choice of beers. Always seems to be populated by a group of loud 'lads' in the centre. Okay for a quick drink or meal.
