A very interesting pub, well worth a visit. My wife enjoyed the mandarin vodka and I enjoyed beers served in here, I had one of each starting with Adnams Southworld, Arundel Gold, and my last pint , A fullers ESB! - they certainly seem well-kept. Top marks to the bar staff who remember details - despite being on our first visit to this pub, not being our local. When I bought a second round, the barman remembered my wife didn't take ice in her drink. Such a refreshing change from the numerous places where the staff automatically ask if you want ice but don't bother listening to your answer. Only a little thing I know, but its the small details that go towards making a great pub which the Carlton certainly is. The pub has large windows at front which makes the pub bright and airy, and has a small beer garden to the rear. It is also dog friendly and they provided a small bowl of water.

What a transformation! Admittedly not ventured inside since it has been redecorated, and last visit last year but had a peek through the window and looked fairly busy for a weekday evening. Decorator outside said new people taken it on which is a massive positive.
Scaffolding all around the outside been there for months. Looks like major work on the chimneys. Advertising boards suggest lots of real ales and wines on offer. We'll definitely give it another go sometime soon.

Shame because this could be a good pub but it is often deserted during the week, handful of people most weekends but all of this is not helped by the unhelpful stroppy staff. This pub is known around here for it's staff with attitude problems.
Have not been here until today for well over a year after the last staff incident but we decided to give it another ago. Staff still sultry and look at you oddly when you venture in , perhaps as we were the only customers she was surprised that someone was coming in. Unfriendly, but worst of all unwelcoming. Lipstick on my wifes wine glass , I asked for another glass but she just took the glass out back wiped it and brought it back. Beer was to be fair good although limited ale choice.
Pub needs a good tidy up. 4 pm in afternoon and most tables were very sticky/dirty I'm guessing from the night or even nights before. Toilets awful. No hand soap or toilet roll and almost all bulbs blown.
Really needs someone to care for it and this pub could have great potential around here. Perhaps starting with the barmaid who upon this visit stank of alcohol. We shall not be back.

Since the new owners took over in October 2012 the Carlton is definitely a go to pub.
Every weekend your garenteed entertainment, with karaoke on a Friday to tribute acts or disco nights ect. Always something on for you to enjoy.
The customers are very friendly, and the vibe in the pub it self is very friendly.
I would reccamend the carlton to anyone who is wanting a good time out.
Also which is grt they hold alot of charity avents which are a lot of fun to take part in.

This is probably the last proper pub in the Broadway area, which is one of the few positives about this place.

The selection of beer isn't great and doesn't taste that good.

The surroundings could be better and some of the clientele leave a bit to be desired but atmosphere on Saturday night isn't too bad, if you can avoid some of the scarier customers, and even though they had a karaoke it wasn't too loud and, because it is quite a big pub, you can find somewhere to chat.
