I have never been to this pub but I do intend to go soon just say THANK YOU !!! for the last 4years. If there is anywhere that this country can be proud of it is Wootton Bassett. If nothing more than just the warmth of the people who reach out and hold our boys and their families close in a silent honour before letting them pass on a road of tears and roses. God Bless the Cross Keys for their hospitality and the wonderful people of this tiny heaven on earth. Our Country thank you all xxxxxxxxxxxi TracyDoo - 19 Aug 2011 20:04
Interesting pub, obviously an old coaching inn judging from all the separate rooms around a central passageway, fine pint of Otter ale, but a bit rough not somewhere to bring your Mum. Hodge1 - 1 Feb 2011 16:32
This pub welcomes bereaved relatives and supports repatriations. The whole country is proud of the way you and your village show support on our behalf...THANK YOU! Everyone who appreciates their local, appreciates how important your role is. I wish I could score you an 11! secclesh - 3 Dec 2010 14:15
This place has nurtured a reputation for catering sympathetically to Wootton Bassett's tragic new visitors - the friends and relatives of our fallen military. However, as a pub, it has it's own tragedy. The beer quality is pretty dreadful, The toilets are often dirty and unmaintained. Bar service is slow and often only grudgingly offered and the locals including staff, have a habit of ignoring aspects of the smoking ban. , Sad. A formerly decent pub sliding steadilly downhill. davethedrinker - 9 Sep 2010 13:35
| Today I found in the Cross Keys the true meaning of the BRITISH SPIRIT.I joined many more subjects of this country to pay respect to the eight young men who recently died in the service of their country.Prior to the passing of the cortege I spent quite a long time talking to people in the Cross Keys.Coffee, Tea and biscuits were made freely available to all and the courtesy and kindness shown by the staff to everyone made a sad occasion more bearable.Your staff are to be congratulated on their professional but kindly manner and their perfect dealings with young and old alike.I will recommend your establishment to all and will most certainly return to enjoy a meal with you all.Thank you for the happy memory I now have of today.
