| Good little pub, ideal to stop here for a pint and a sandwich if doing the Monsall Trail. Does a few real ales and also proper meals. Bar area, which probably seats around 30, is muddy boot and dog friendly. Was in there once when there were 9 dogs, slightly out numbering the humans. Can get packed at weekends, especially if a tribe of thrifty middle class ramblers come in. These can be spotted by the fact that the blokes nurse a half, while their women have a coffee (often from their own flask) and eat their own sandwiches. son_of_odin - 14 Sep 2010 15:54 |
| Visited this on a quiet afternoon when only a few other customers were present, but found it to be a nice place. It is sat opposite its own car park in the tiny hamlet of Millers Dale, just south of Tideswell. As such, it is very handily placed for walkers on the nearby Monsal trail, to visit for a drink of one of their fine selction of real ales. On my visit, they had two beers from the Storm Brewing Co. in Macclesfield as well as two others from Buxton Brewery in addition to Adnams. | A very nice unspoiled pub with a good range of locally brewed beers. I did not try the food as it was a flying visit but I will definitely return soon. The staff were friendly and the place was clean - no doubt helped by the dirty boot ban. Fine by me. maxipop - 26 Jul 2010 12:53 |
