I like this pub. It used to be my local, located as it was at the bottom of the road and I often enjoyed stopping off for a cheeky solo pint on the way home from work. If the weather's fine and you get there early enough to catch the afternoon sun before it disappears behind the building, then the outside terrace is a fine spot indeed. Things are also very nice inside, with a relaxed ambience, aided by friendly staff and a decent clientele. I haven't explored the menu very far but it looks decent enough. They have a good range of continental beers on tap and decent bottles beers/ciders etc. I don't live round the corner any more but will still happily travel to what is - I think - one of the best pubs in the Bush. nellypaal - 9 Jun 2008 15:59
I have to agree with travis that some of the reviews here are suspiciously gushing. The place seems to be largely populated by displaced Sloanes, many of whom need to learn come manners. The quiz night is a redeeming feature and is well worth a visit. On the whole, the barstaff are pleasant with the exception of one or two who seem to display a perplexing hostility to anyone over the age of 35. Maybe they would be better off working in a youth club. Sorry to be negative but some of our recent experiences have resulted in us now giving The Goldhawk a wide berth. fatherjack - 29 Apr 2008 21:57
My post criticising the dubious entertainment of tarot readings, book writers clubs and monopoly competitions at this pub has now been removed, so I think everyone is perhaps best advised to take the collection of overwhelmingly positive reviews here with a pinch of salt. Not saying they're not genuine mind, just that there's been a bit of cleansing going on. travis - 13 Feb 2008 16:14
My girlfriend recommended this place, and I wasn't disappointed. They have a great selection of drinks (hot and cold) and the food looks brilliant. I get the impression that the owners don't take themselves too seriously which adds to the good vibes (i.e. the friendly blackboard notices all over the pub advertising the quiz, DJ night etc). There's a nice little beer garden / smoking area out the front too, albeit located on the main road. AND... they have Scrabble. Great fun! kingston_toon - 14 Dec 2007 12:47
Great pub, an excellent range of beers including Woodforde's Wherry which was in perfect condition and served in proper mugs- as it should be! The decor manages to be modern and homely, and the food menu looked good. A youngish crowd. A large pub with plenty of tables and chairs- overall, one of the best pubs around. napoleon_dynamite - 30 Jun 2007 11:32
