popped in here for lunch last week.. a party of five of us. The food was excellent, i had a blinding bit of Steak, the staff were friendly and the beer went down well.. what more could we ask for!
Not bad value for money either, we will be popping back again for a sunday roast soon.

After visiting all the pubs in the surrounding area of the bear and ragged staff it was very easy for us to decide on this pub for a large very important family celebration. It clearly stood out as the nicest and most welcoming pub in the area where we were all made to feel very welcome with friendly and helpful staff who seemed genuine and willing to help as much as they could. we were shown to the area we had booked for the evening and it was set up exactly as we had requested despite the fact the restaurant was already full with other diners. being the organiser it was down to me to discuss some dietary and allergy requirements that members of our party had and although I had mentioned it over the phone, the lady behind the bar couldnt have been more helpful despite how busy they already were. The chef came out and spoke to me and offered 2 or 3 different dishes to cater for these requirements, none of which were on the menu.
we were served quickly and the food was delicious, clearly all home cooked and freshly prepared. for such a large party on a busy saturday night we never once felt like we inconvenienced the staff with our special requirements. we could not fault anything about our evening and we look forward to seeing the christmas menu coming out as we will be visiting in december as the same party and also with our friends and work colleagues.
A wonderful pub with great food and the friendliest of staff.

Not much to say really. Bit of a 'nothing' pub. Loses out to the Malt House in Timsbury, much better. Use to be a Whitbread managed establishment now privately owned (one of two). Bland, in my opinion, with a know it all landlady. Not my 'cup of tea'. But to each his own.

It feels like a (goodish) chain pub, though apparently it's part of chain of only two. On the basis of one (evening) visit only, I'd say that the food was quite good -- not gourmet stuff, but a fair rage and decent sized portions. The beer I tried (Landlord) was excellent.

Went there today for a family birthday party. It's just another food for the masses style pub, but I think everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered. My wife's avocado, prawn and salmon looked very nice and apparently was. My chilli was fine, and I'm a bit hard to please.

My first pint (Ringwood Best) was very mundane, but my second (Taylor Landlord) was good.
