Went here after a day trip to Lundy -- it's relaxing and civilised pub which is a welcome escape in a surprisingly scruffy town centre. Braganca - 26 Dec 2010 20:37
Spent my formative years drinking here in the 70s. Popped back in the nineties and it hadn't changed a bit except they no longer sold cider at 10p a pint. Nice pub that still retains its charm. Vermyn - 23 Nov 2010 20:54
These days saturdays can be a bit quiet in the evenings, though pick up when the band's on. Great atmosphere, with very friendly staff and regulars. Albert_Campion - 19 Oct 2009 13:17
Nice pub and well worth a visit. Invisible_Rabbit - 25 Jul 2009 20:57
I love this pub , I really do, but......... The staff, what staff there are, are really friendly and welcoming. On Fridays and Saturdays they have some really good music on, it's free ( almost - we'll come to that later )the atmosphere is fantastic and the locals are quite accomodating once thay start to recognise you. They pass a glass round for the band and it never ceases to amaze me how many people refuse to throw a handful of change in after bopping away all night to the music. Now, the problem. I would say that if I have been into this pub 10 times, they have ran out of one beer or another on at least 6 of those occasions. It's a real shame as on the whole the beers ( usually 3 bitters, 3 lagers + Guiness etc) are of good quality and poured well but why don't they get enough in? A good old fashioned, down to earth English pub let down for the want of a bit of stock control. ROBSMITH - 12 May 2008 15:44
