The pub has recently had a change of owner and been updated inside. It is now clean, bright and welcoming with a real log fire . Usual beers and ales on sale with a very good food menu, catering for the better quality pub/bistro food market. We had the steak which was lovely quality and well cooked. This was a return visit after my wife had been in with friends and enjoyed a lighter meal. The staff and owner are very welcoming and attentive with service, but not too in your face. Very enjoyable and will recommend to all . fozzie1189 - 20 Nov 2011 18:15
Needless to say, I notice the Morris Men won't be dancing here this year. Leave it to the wealthy locals who can afford to drink average quality beer with little taste or character at inflated prices. topsailjon - 19 Apr 2011 16:27
Went in again a couple of weeks back on a Thursday evening when the morris men were there. How dissapointing after my previous visit. £3.15 for a very average pint of session beer when i can get a good locally brewed premium beer for £2.60 a mile up the road. Empty, with no atmosphere other than the people outside in the garden watching the morris. Won't be back until brewery changes or it becomes a free house. topsailjon - 30 Jul 2010 15:50
Went here for a 1st Father's day surprise as I'd driven past it and thought the outside gardens were lovely. Was greeted politely by young waitressing staff (nobody seemed to be older than 21 years). One small portion of vegetables between 4 adults, rock hard roast potatoes. One person on table next to us sent her dinner back saying it was dried up and didn't want another one as it would be the same. All in all, the location is lovely but not great food. Summers evening drinks on the garden for this pub and not much else smartie6189 - 21 Jun 2010 15:19
Living just up the road, I haven't been in much since Marstons sold it to Greene King, however, a recent visit suggested that the current incumbents wish to turn it back into a local boozer. I think they will have a job on their hands as it has a reputation as a food pub and has lost the cosy feeling of when it was a small two-bar country pub with no food. Good luck with it. Hope you sucseed where so many have recently failed in this establishment. topsailjon - 23 Dec 2009 12:45
