When we were there, the place was heaving!
However, everyone in the crowd was careful to make sure we could get to the bar where we found an excellent range of beers.
Again, we found somewhere to sit in a back room to enjoy a couple of welcome pints. A true "local" with very friendly staff and clientele!

Always a nice drop of beer, and with the feel of a side-street local which is all too painfully rare these days.
I enjoy this pub a lot, though the hours do mean that I don't get to visit as often as I would like.

We visited here this evening, very quiet but engaging pub. Strangely authentic but a real 'local'. Friendly owner (I assume), relaxed atmosphere, real ale (we had screeching owl and Lancaster blonde), clean, tidy with some formica tables. Older clientel, no chavs, which is always a bonus. We will visit again.

This is a strange pub in a sense - as it seems just very normal. Positioned in a quiet sidestreet just outside the perimeter of the extended shopping area. You will be greeted by the landlord, who maybe supping ale from a half-pint glass and if you approach the ale section, he will instantly notify you of the alcohol volume. The ales are rotated regularly but a local Gadds is always on tap and this is a favourite drinking hole of Eddie Gadd and his staff. I visit this pub often and it is quite obvious that a tight ship is kept here, it is very well managed, the ales are well-priced as are the snacks. The clientele are all very decent, educated and loyal. There is a pool room in the back although it is very rarely used.

On first approaching the building , it looks to be well maintained which is more that can be said for a lot of Ramsgate ,especially its public houses.

On entry one is welcomed by a clean and pleasant environment.Knowledgeable and helpful barman . Warm friendly , pleasant locals.

3 real ales, Gadd's, Itchen Valley and boondoggle, plus Biddenden cider. The Gadd's we drank was very pleasant.

Verdict. This and the artillery arms and by far and way the best pubs in the immediate vicinity for the real ale drinker.
