Sky Sports screens are everywhere if that’s your thing, and the range of beers is perfecly adequate, but the taste wasn’t quite right. This pub is like Mars - totally devoid of atmosphere. This was our least favourite pub in Ambleside.

I found a pleasant if slow barman here when I went in with a friend for lunch. About the only place in Ambleside we could get in. Food average and beer OK. Doesn't seem to cater for tourists.

Not sure why this has such a low rating, but my visits have been confined to mid-week lunchties and evenings. Does have a few screens in, has some local ales and the food was standard pub food and acceptable, service was ffine. Can imagine this would attract a more local cliental for the football as previous poster states. Its really a bar rather than a pub.

7 TV's, 3 real ales and comfy seating. If you in Ambleside and want to watch a game, come here. If you, don't, try another pub. 6/10

Dodged in here out of the rain yesterday. Huge array on beers on offer and three Hawkshead hand-pulls in offer. Tried a pint of Ambleside Ale and was very nice indeed. Have to say that although this pub is set out well, it felt a bit intimidating as the locals that were in, were not interested in any other liquid other than that coming out of the Stella tap. It made me laugh that the locals were handed forms for a pub quiz, but these never came the way of outsiders like us. Maybe the accents and having two eyes makes us stand out. Could be a business that is sure of its' trade, and its' trade is not tourists. To be honest, I can see the point in that.
