Called in here after the The Sir Ralph Abercromby on our manchester pub crawl on Saturday. As we were all real ale drinkers, we were hopeing to find a large selection of fine real ales, as the pub is massive. we got to the bar and all they had on was Theakstons. It didnt tase nice as we all agreed. The pub itself is very old fashened and a nice layout but it needs some TLC. It seems they just concentrate on keg lagers / bitters.
Karaoke advertised outside at weekends, thats not my cup of tea. but nevermind. The staff could of been a bit more chatty and they could of smiled a bit more but you cant have everything..... Next pub

The landlord of this pub ruined my friends reception. It advertises a a free function room but you have to order the buffet from them. @£7.50 per head, they provided a few stale sandwiches with hardly any filling, some pork pies and some horrible looking chicken drumsticks! The family had to go out to the supermarket to buy food for the guests. The manager/landlord wasnt interested in our complaint and didnt care that the bride was in tears. Total cost £280 for no more than £30.00 food. DISGRACEFUL!

Agree with Bigaudio. Staff not v friendly. Only interested in regulars, it seemed. The gents upstairs was a toilet in a tiny room with not even a sink to wash your hands! Isn't that illegal? Good job I only needed a piss.

Interesting old fashioned pub with nice quirky lay-out and decent range of beers. Pretty quiet when we went; staff lacked a bit of charm

Ye gods, avoid at all costs, especially on a Friday which turns out to be a really bad karaoke night now.

The Old Nag's Head used to be a really great pub; nice, clean and airy but with an almost intimate atmosphere, beer well kept, friendly staff. As someone mentioned in an earlier review, "a hidden gem". Now, it wouldn't be amiss to be used on the TV show "Shameless".

On our first visit in a while, we were confronted by the worlds largest gathering of huge-bellied out-of-tune karaoke blokes. The beer was rank in the extreme (even the spirits, which my wife was drinking, were "off", the Theakstons was like vinegar, etc), the place had a really gross old sweat funk about it, and I've never ever been to a pub where the karaoke didn't only take over the main bar but was even piped into the snig via a badly tuned flat screen TV so you couldn't even have a conversation.

The staff made you feel like you were getting in the way, manky glasses, manky floors, manky tables. If the HSE went in on a flash inspection, I reckon it'd be closed on the spot.

Needless to say, we weren't in there long and won't be going back in a rush.
