| Visited with my parents-in-law who had the carvery which was very good value for less than £4 as quality was good. However, the non-carvery options were dire and the service slow. We had to chase up both the starter and main course - the latter took nearly an hour to arrive. The potato skins starter was actually a baked potato with cheese, ham and uncooked mushrooms on top. The "Fish Pie" was a layer of anaemic mashed potato over fish gravy with 2 prawns and a teaspoonful of fish in it. Only John Smiths as cask beer. DaveTel - 31 Dec 2008 12:48 |
| Just to be one of the best food places around but since the big company got hold of it. Now it's pre-packed rubbish. But this pub comes into its own for wedding receptions the great cooks are still there and the function room is tailor made. I was there for a wedding and the food was out of this world, the function room had a medieval look to it and it is actually hundreds of years old (not a silly false theme) corbon - 23 Feb 2006 16:20 |
